Over the past [almost] two years I’ve learned just how important pets can be. Me and Jeremiah adopted Annie almost two years ago. At the time I was home alone a lot so we decided to get a dog to keep me company. We had been looking and were having no luck finding a dog that was a good match. Then we went to a shelter in another town and found Annie! She was shy, underweight, and sick, but something just clicked. We adopted her, got her back into good health, and taught her that it was ok to bark (she wouldn’t bark when we got her as if she had gotten in trouble for it before).

I ended up losing my job that Fall and it was a huge blessing to have Annie around when I was out of work. Then Jeremiah’s hours got cut so he was home alone a lot and it was great to have Annie there.

After about a year we decided to get a second dog so Annie would have someone her size to play with. After a month or two of searching we came across an unnamed dachshund at the local shelter. The dog had road rash down her hip and leg, a bad looking batch of bumps on her tummy, she was missing most of the fur on her head and ears, and a few other problems. The shelter employees let us know that the dog had been on the streets for a month after being thrown out of a car. She had a ID chip and the owners were contacted. They said, “we don’t want her anymore.” So we decided to give her a chance.

The dog has white fur on her face in the shape of a mask, so my mom thought of calling her Bandit.

Bandit came with a lot of “quirks” but she is totally worth the work and effort. It’s so amazing to see the huge improvements in her behavior from when we first got her until now. I love both of our pups so much and want to do everything I can to help them.

Because Bandit is still a ‘work in progress’ we tie a yellow ribbon to her leash. The idea came from The Yellow Dog Project. The yellow ribbon signifies that the dog needs some extra space and shouldn’t be approached while on a walk. Please check out my video about Bandit and the Yellow Dog Project to learn more. And please share the video if you know a dog who could benefit from wearing a yellow ribbon.

If you’ve been around my youTube channel very long you’ve probably seen one or both of my pups. Their names are Annie and Bandit and they are the most adorable dachshunds…who love to snuggle! They especially love being cozied up under a blanket. So I decided to make a special sleeper bag for them. They can both get in it and snuggle while napping and staying nice and warm.

I used a thrifted Pirates of the Caribbean flannel sheet and a fluffy blanket I picked up for free with a coupon. The project is very easy and great for anyone with a pet who loves to be cozy!

**Did you know Annie has her own facebook page?!? Add her here**
