Burlap & Blossoms Headband and Photoshoot

I recently had the opportunity to create another project for Pellon using their ultra firm sew-in stabilizer. I had a lot of fun coming up with the project! I was inspired by a package of headbands I purchased at Dollar Tree and some really pretty flowers from the scrapbook section at Hobby Lobby.

You don’t have to use store bought flowers, you can definitely make your own flowers and use them to make headbands or hair clips.

My hubby, Jeremiah, and I did a photoshoot recently modeling my DIY headband and a corset I got from the lovely Damsel in this Dress! *BTW her corsets are amazing and she is a super sweet person!* The photoshoot was a lot of fun and I put together a video from that day with some of the pics and footage. Disney Inspired Fashion

Not everyone knows this about me, but I LOVE costumes! During college I was the co-costumer for our university theatre department. My friend and I had a ton of fun that year hanging out in the costume shop!

Lately I’ve been missing those costuming days a bit…and having lots of fun making styling videos. So I decided to create a fun new series called I.F. (Inspired Fashion) that combines the two. In each I.F. video I will create outfits inspired by characters in a book, movie, TV show, play, etc. For the first I.F. video I created three outfits inspired by Disney characters.

Styling a Corset

I picked up a corset this year at the Norman Medieval Faire from Damsel in this Dress. I’m super excited to own one of her corsets (having been wanting one for years!)

Now that I have my corset I want to wear it more than the once or twice a year that I attend a faire. So I came up with a few styling options using basic items from my closet.

Let me know if you like dressing up in costumes and if you find ways to reuse those costume items later.

Basic T-Shirt DIY Tutorial and Styling

Everyone’s wardrobe contains a few staple pieces. It may be a great pair of jeans or a blazer, but I love t-shirts. I’m not talking about t-shirts with huge graphics (although I do have those), but a great fitting basic tee. I have tons of them, but wanted to make my own. I gabbed a tee I liked and some cute jersey knit and set to work.

I decided since it was my first t-shirt from scratch I wanted to do an attached sleeve so the shirt only consists of a front and back. The shirt is super easy to make but looks great!

Since I was using a striped fabric I took a few extra minutes and took the time to line the stripes up when cutting so my seams looked 100 times better.
