I have a craft fair coming up soon so I put together a little sewing kit-to-go so I would have some projects to work on during any down time. For my kit I used a triple-layer snap apart plastic box, this allows me to keep my basics on one level and project supplies in the other.

Garage Sale Haul and Thrifting Tips

Jeremiah and I love going to garage sales to find great deals and fun items. Last weekend we went to a few garage sales and I did a little haul video to show what we found.

DIY Lion Plushie and Big News!

When a friend told me that the nursery theme for their new baby boy was lions I couldn’t help but come up with a DIY! I went to my sewing room and sketched out a little lion and figured out how to turn that design into a plushie.

It turned out super cute so I wanted to share the pattern and tutorial with you all!

DIY Pencil Bag and Supply Haul

Well…it’s that time of year again.

Back-to-School Time.

In honor of back-to-school I decided to create an easy pencil bag project. This bag is perfect for keeping all of your pens, pencils, markers, etc. all together and it can even be attached into a three-ring binder.

The pencil bag is quick and easy to make and tons of fun to customize with your favorite colors or school colors.

Feature Block Ideas

A while back I did a tote bag series on my channel. The last tutorial included using a paper pieced block as the focal point for one of the totes.

Since then I have made a few more of the bags with different designs at the feature. I wanted to share those blocks in a video to offer some extra inspiration to anyone wanting to make one of the bags (or any other project with a feature block).

Adjustable Steampunk Skirt

A year or so ago my dad bought me two vintage curtains at a thrift store. They were really cool – printed with different trains and train signs. I was saving them; trying to come up with just the right project. I had been considering them for a feature segment on a corduroy bag, but after a lot of thinking decided the print was too large and too busy for a bag.

About three months ago I shared a pic of the fabric on instagram and someone commented that it would make a great skirt for my steampunk costume. The idea didn’t really stick with me, until a short time ago when I was inspired with a certain skirt shape.

Once the idea of the shape was in my mind the entire project fell into place! I jumped right into making the skirt and it turned out so awesome!

I filmed enough of the process that I was able to put together a tutorial of my impromptu project. You can find that tutorial HERE!

Sunburst Zipper Bag

After carrying my Sunburst Tote for a couple of weeks I decided to make another sunburst paper pieced block, but smaller. I hung it on the wall for a couple of days then decided it would make a perfect pieced zipper bag.

I combined techniques from my Pieced Tote Tutorial and the Zipper Bag Tutorials in my Etsy store to make the bag. It turned out EXACTLY how I wanted! I love it so much and now I have a matching Tote and Zip bag.

Creating a Reusable Template

A lot of the projects I create involve a template of some sort. I usually just sketch them on paper and use them a time or two. However if it is a project I make several times I like to have a sturdier template.

I found a plastic sheet in some junk mail a couple of years back. It is about the thickness of stencil plastic. I traced out the template I was using the most, cut it out, and now have a more permanent template instead of a paper cut out.

The plastic template is working great! I’ve already used it several times. If you have a template or pattern you need to use and use, over and over then you might want to give this a try.

Sunburst Tote Vlog

Last year I posted a tutorial for a very basic unlined tote bag tutorial. In that video I asked if anyone wanted a lined tote tutorial as well. I didn’t really think that many people would be interested, but almost everyone said yes.

I put the tutorial off for a while because I wasn’t really feeling the inspiration. Then the inspiration hit! I saw some pics on instagram where people were featuring an interesting fabric for a project and I thought it was a great idea so I wanted to feature the sunburst paper piecing block I made for a past tutorial. I have a tub full of jeans in the garage just waiting to be cut up for projects, so I grabbed a pair and went to work.

I ended up creating my new favorite project! I can’t get enough of this tote because I love it so much!

The tote I made was intended to be a test run for a much more basic lined tote tutorial, but I showed a pic on facebook and instagram and everyone was requesting a tutorial on it. So I was torn between just posting a basic lined tutorial tutorial like planned, or the more difficult pieced and quilted tote, or one of each.

So I decided to ask you all! What would you like to see tutorials on??
