About three months ago I shared a pic of the fabric on instagram and someone commented that it would make a great skirt for my steampunk costume.  The idea didn’t really stick with me, until a short time ago when I was inspired with a certain skirt shape.

Once the idea of the shape was in my mind the entire project fell into place!  I jumped right into making the skirt and it turned out so awesome!

I filmed enough of the process that I was able to put together a tutorial of my impromptu project.   You can find that tutorial HERE!

The first of the lined tote bag tutorials is just that – a basic lined tote bag.  They have an infinite amount of uses and I love having a few on hand all the time.

This next tote bag is possibly my favorite bag I have ever made (and I have made a lot of bags)!

I had a paper pieced block hanging on my wall for several months unsure what I wanted to do with it.  One day I was sitting in the floor of my sewing room thinking about the large tub of jeans in the garage that need to be used for something…and it all clicked!

I decided to make a sturdy tote bag that featured my rainbow sunburst block, with denim pieced around it to create the bag front.  I then sewed some quilting lines on it and made a useful, yet stylish tote.

The first sunburst tote was made on a whim and not filmed.  So when the pics got a great reaction on facebook and instagram, I decided to make another bag using the scraps from my last bunting project for the sunburst.  This is the bag I filmed for the tutorial.

You don’t have to use store bought flowers, you can definitely make your own flowers and use them to make headbands or hair clips.

My hubby, Jeremiah, and I did a photoshoot recently modeling my DIY headband and a corset I got from the lovely Damsel in this Dress!  *BTW her corsets are amazing and she is a super sweet person!*  The photoshoot was a lot of fun and I put together a video from that day with some of the pics and footage.  You can check it out HERE.

Lately I’ve been missing those costuming days a bit…and having lots of fun making styling videos.  So I decided to create a fun new series called I.F. (Inspired Fashion) that combines the two.  In each I.F. video I will create outfits inspired by characters in a book, movie, TV show, play, etc.  For the first I.F. video I created three outfits inspired by Disney characters.

Jeremiah wore his Tenzin costume this past weekend and came in 3rd place in his costume category!  He had a great time and took tons of pictures at the Con.

I posted pics of Jeremiah’s finished costume and lots of other pics from Tokyo in Tulsa in THIS video.

I’m still impressed with the finished costume every time I look at the pics!

Now that I have my corset I want to wear it more than the once or twice a year that I attend a faire.  So I came up with a few styling options using basic items from my closet.

Let me know if you like dressing up in costumes and if you find ways to reuse those costume items later.

I decided since it was my first t-shirt from scratch I wanted to do an attached sleeve so the shirt only consists of a front and back.  The shirt is super easy to make but looks great!

Since I was using a striped fabric I took a few extra minutes and took the time to line the stripes up when cutting so my seams looked 100 times better.
